5 easy recipes to help you make your own dog treats!
Homemade dog treats are a great alternative to store bought treats. You can adapt them to your dogs' taste and make them as healthy as possible whilst avoiding any nasty additives. I have compiled a quick list of my favourite homemade dog treats- I hope your dogs love them as much as mine do!
1. No Bake Coconut Balls

What you'll need:
- Coconut oil
- Shredded coconut
- Dog friendly peanut butter
- Rolled oats
The method:
1. Mix coconut oil, peanut butter and rolled oats together until the mixture is well bonded.
2. Scoop out bite-sized pieces of dough and roll into ball shapes.
3. Roll the balls over the shredded coconut.
4. Place coconut balls on a tray and refrigerate for 30mins-1hour and serve.
2. Chicken Broth Balls

What you'll need:
- Dog friendly peanut butter
- No added salt chicken broth
- Rolled oats
The method:
1. Mix together the peanut butter and rolled oats.
2. Add in the chicken broth slowly until the mixture is well combined.
3. Scoop out small, bite-sized pieces and roll into balls.
4. Refrigerate for 30mins and serve.
3. Beef and Carrot Ice Lollies

What you'll need:
- Carrot baby food puree or home made carrot puree
- No added salt beef broth
The Method:
1. Mix together the carrot puree and beef broth, the consistency should be runny and smooth.
2. Pour the mixture into ice cube trays or ice lolly moulds.
3. Freeze until the cubes are solid and serve as a treat on a warm day!
4. Carrot Dog Biscuits

What you'll need:
- 2 eggs
- 1 jar or sachet of carrot baby food
- 2.5 cups flour
The method:
1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celcius.
2. Combine the ingredients together to form a slightly dry dough- you may need to use your hands to knead the dough.
3. Roll the dough out onto a floured surface and cut into the desired shape.
4. Place the dough onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 20-30mins.
5. Leave to cool before serving.
5. Berry Delicious Ice Lolly

What you'll need:
- Plain yogurt
- Blackberries
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
The method:
1. Sprinkle the berries into an ice cube tray or ice lolly mould.
2. Add the yogurt to fill around the berries.
3. Freeze overnight and serve.
